Based on recommendations from the Arnold Department of Health, and after learning of the potential cost savings we would incur, CVCA has transitioned the swimming pool to use salt chlorination. This eliminates the use of harsh chlorine, which results in red eyes, itchy skin and the intense smell of chlorine. This also enables some of our neighbors with allergies to chlorine to now enjoy the pool. In addition, the transition eliminates the need for many of the chemicals we use to maintain the pool, and should result in a savings of $500 to $600 per year. The pool actually uses a very low concentration of salt, so there should be no taste or smell of salt in the water.
While we will soon remove the cover and start the preparations for the upcoming season, the pool will open on Saturday, May 27th.
